Axe Cop

I realize this is old news, Internetically (Internetually?)-speaking, but Tanzi turned me onto Axe Cop awhile back and I’ve been a fan ever since. Created sort of by accident by Ethan Nicolle, a 29-year-old comic book artist, and his 5-year-old brother Malachai, the webcomic follows the adventures of Axe Cop and his pal Flute Cop (a.k.a.Dinosaur Soldier), among other nutty characters.

Malachai and Ethan write the comics together, and Ethan draws them — you can see their process in this video:

Besides the webcomics, there are several episodes of the Axe Cop motion comics, and those are a ton of fun, too:

Since he first appeared, Axe Cop has caught on like wildfire, and I couldn’t be happier about that. Here’s a kid and his big brother having a good time and actually delivering something fun and entertaining without the slightest hint of cynicism or snark. Reading Ethan’s blog posts at the Axe Cop site, he comes off like a genuinely nice guy. I hope Ethan and Malachai make a ton of money off the cool comic they’ve created, they deserve a lot of success. Check out the Axe Cop website for more.
