Yeah, actually one of Bradbury's best.

I find him unconvincing at times, but when he's on he's on. Best ever story? "Forever and the Earth."

If memory serves, "The Small Assassin" didn't really have any mystery element to it. It was about a baby that is born self-aware and holds a grudge towards his parents. A silly premise made creepy and thrilling by Bradbury's mastery of atmosphere.

I guess if Robert Bloch and John D. MacDonald could write SF, then Ray Bradbury could dip into mystery. The name Miranda triggered the Firefly/Serenity thing but I realized the MacDonald story appeared in 'The Good Old Stuff,' which contains a bunch of his early stories. Miranda is really spooky. That man could write.

Yeah, good acting all around and they managed to nicely characterize the Roman soldiers so that they came across as individuals and not just sword fodder.

Great. I'll give it to Gail, she'll have there tomorrow, but will be leaving a little early at 4ish. Then Teusday, through the rest of the week. Hope you enjoy it.

I stumbled across CENTURION at the local video store. I really liked it and was surprised it didn't get more publicity since it had Michael Fassbender and Dominic West in good roles. I would love THE MYSTERIANS on DVD and could pick it up next week at the library if it's convenient. Thanks!

What, no love for "League of the Grateful Dead"? Jerry, is that you, Jerry?

I suspect that does have something to do with it. Interesting how such a shift of attitude might be conveyed in covers to pulp magazines. Surprised someone hasn't written a learned paper on it. (Probably I'm just not aware of it.) Not worth a PhD, but I'd think you could get an MA out of it.
